Custom specification sleeve for abrasive powder
The Problem
The client was a subcontractor for a plant who handled abrasive powders. They required a custom sized sleeve that would withstand abrasion whilst being flexible and operating under positive conveying pressure.
The Solution
We investigated the properties of different sleeves that were available to us, and found that we could achieve the resistance to abrasion and flexibility with on one particular material. Our solution used this as an ‘inner’ sleeve, which was supported against expansion with an ‘outer’ sleeve of a material that was resistant to stretch but not abrasion.
The Outcome
The client’s system returned to functioning as designed, improving their reliability, and they benefited from the additional spares capacity. There was very little down-time.
