Suspension bolt failure on a Bin Activator
The Problem
Failed bin activator suspension bolt under a silo, resulting in flour leaking into the silo base, causing hygiene, health and safety and explosion risk issues
The Solution
A full replacement suspension bolt set was sourced and installed as per manufacturer specifications. Upon installation, our site engineers identified noted that improper bolts had been fitted, and that the bin activator seal had degraded and required replacement. Site was notified about these issues, and a replacement gasket was fitted on a return visit.
The Outcome
Production was able to continue with minimal disruption, and the initial issue were resolved before it became a major issue. Replacement of the gasket prevented unexpected downtime, and was done at a low-impact time for production.
